The different types of encountered issues

In the following Devlog posts you'll be able to find the issues I encountered, organized by type.

I assigned colors and tags to them on MemoQ to easily sort them after the review phase.

From most trivial to most hilarious or dramatic, we have:

  • Homophones: words that are pronounced the same way, how can we blame MemoQ?
  • Foreign words: MemoQ tries hard for sure, but fails big time. It's not its fault, I know, but they're definitely funny! (in this section, "The thousands names of Ganimard", it just killed me 🤣)
  • Formatting: sometimes, completely at random, MemoQ decides to spell out typographical characters, while other times it writes the corresponding ones. It arbitrarily changes capitalizations, inserts abbreviations, or removes spaces. All of this with no consistency whatsoever. What the hell, MemoQ?
  • So close!: words that can actually be mistaken for similar ones, although their pronunciation slightly differs. They introduce errors, sometimes quite hilarious.
  • Accents: for some reasons, MemoQ struggles to recognize accented words. I swear, I did my best to highlight the accent while reading!
  • Preterite tense: Italian's distant past tense is characterized by accented words. For the aforementioned reason, or just because MemoQ is not familiar with those "less used" terms, 80% of my issues concerned these verbs.
  • WTF?: MemoQ just behaving weirdly. Basically made up words that do not exist in Italian, MemoQ trying to make up for words it probably never heard/couldn't recognize. The results cracked me up, I was struggling to keep a serious tone while recording 😂

Have fun!
